Goidel, Ph.D. |
Goidel is director of the Manship School’s Research Facility, which includes the Public Policy Research Lab and the Media Effects Lab. As senior public policy fellow of the Reilly Center for Media & Public Affairs, he directs the annual Louisiana Survey and provides analysis of the findings to government, organizations and the media. Goidel works closely with diverse constituencies to develop survey instruments, analyze data, prepare reports and present research findings. His received his Ph.D. in political science from the University of Kentucky and is the author of two books and numerous journal articles. He is a professor in the Manship School of Mass Communication and the department of political science.

Christopher Kenny, Ph.D. Deputy Director |
Kenny serves as deputy director of the Public Policy Research Lab. He is involved in all aspects of the Lab’s operation including instrument design, data analysis and report writing. Kenny actively recruits students to work in the lab and ensures quality training and protocol programs. As liaison to the university community and other academic and professional institutions, Kenny plays a leadership role in promoting the lab as a multidisciplinary asset to advance a rigorous research agenda. He received hi s Ph.D. in political science from Washington University in St. Louis. He is a professor in the department of political science specializing in campaigns and elections, mass political behavior and the process of social influence

Michael Xenos, Ph.D. Deputy Director, Media Effects Lab |
Xenos serves as deputy director of the newly established Media Effects Lab, a state-of-the-art component of the Manship School’s Research Facility. The Media Effects Lab is equipped with the latest technology to measure physiological effects to media messages. He received his Ph.D. in political science from the University of Washington and his areas of expertise include political communication, public opinion and the effects of new media on the political process. Xenos is a professor in the Manship School of Mass Communication and the department of political science. Previously he was an assistant professor at the University of Wisconsin where he was awarded research grants in 2006 and 2007.

Kathryn Rountree |
Rountree leads all aspects of a full capacity survey facility, including project management; client proposals and budgets; hiring, training and administration of surveyors, supervisors and staff; development of marketing materials; as well as implementation of policies and procedures to ensure full accountability and quality data delivery. She interacts with the university community, government, business and non-profit entities underpinning LSU’s dedication to serve as a resource for external constituencies. Rountree earned her B.A. in mass communication from LSU’s Manship School of Mass Communication and is currently pursuing a M.A. in European History. Rountree previously worked on Capitol Hill and in the private sector in government relations and marketing.

Srinivas Thouta |
Thouta manages systems and technology, including applications development, operations and network infrastructure. He directs the design and development of programs and survey software to ensure the efficient operation of internal systems. Thouta has a Master’s in Computer Science and Master’s in Engineering Management from LSU. He is also a Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD) and Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute.
